Tropea is a charming medieval town of 7000 inhabitants situated at the neck of the "Boot" at the same latitude as the famous Eolean islands. Italians refer to it affectionately as the "Pearl of Calabria". Here you will find an unspoilt countryside with lush green vegetation creating a stunning contrast to the deep blue of the crystal water. The town is built on a rock which rises 42 metres from the sea and every visitor cannot but be charmed by its romantic winding lanes. The town itself offers a range of exceptional shopping opportunities, with a marketplace and many attractive bars and restaurants.
	The superb sandy beaches together with a huge selection of sports and leisure activities worth visiting present many options to lovers of sport and culture. Tropea remains very much an Italian town and is not crowded with tourists. You will therefore have plenty of opportunity to listen and apply the language outside of school as well. It is the ideal place to combine learning and holiday.
It's easier than you think! By air: Flying with Alitalia from Milan or Rome to Lamezia Terme; from Lamezia Terme airport either we will come to collect you (transfer time is approx. 45 minutes) or else you can take a local train (approx. every 90 minutes) for Tropea. Note: Because of our close relationship with Alitalia we are able to offer you the option of booking your flight directly through us (see registration section). In this case we will send you confirmation of your flight booking together with the invoice. We ask you to make payment by bank transfer immediately after receiving this confirmation. Your air ticket will be sent to you. Any subsequent changes after the issue of the air ticket will incur additional cost. Charter flights from Germany / Austria / Switzerland: details and prices on request.     By train: The "Pendolino" (rapid inter-city service) leaves Rome for Lamezia Terme approximately every 4 and a half hours, the IC takes approx. 5 and a half hours. The onward journey from Lamezia Terme to Tropea takes approx. 60 minutes, or else we can come and collect you / schools transfer. The transfer time is approx. 50 minutes. Note: best of all is to book the train using a travel agency specialising in Italy. By car: Take the Florence - Rome motorway in the direction of Reggio Calabria, leaving at Pizzo and heading towards Tropea (journey time from Rome to Tropea is approx. 6 hours). By bus: Take a bus to Lamezia Terme. The journey is similar to that described above. Example: leaving Monaco on a Saturday at 16.00, arrive in Lamezia Terme on Sunday at 09.55.
